Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

Extraordinary Ministers of  Holy Communion

Many parishioners offer their time and talent to St. Francis Parish serving in different ministries.  One group serves as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at daily and weekend Masses.  According to Redemptionis sacramentum, an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is a layperson formally instituted to distribute Holy Communion during Mass.  They are referred to as extraordinary as the ordinary ministers of Holy Communion are ordained clergy:  Bishops, Priests and Deacons.  After proper instruction, many parishioners serve as Eucharistic Ministers at daily and weekend Masses.
